I think the issue is more the amount of the fee, than just the fee.  It is
necessary to cover the cost of the room and so a fee does have to be levied.
However, ten quid is a little excessive for home users, never mind twenty.

The problem of course is that the Conrad are not known for their flexibility
on payment.  Should the fee be dropped to say five quid which would be a
reasonable amount and the takings didn't cover the cost of the room, the
Conrad would still be inclined to persue the organisers for the remainder.
