Hi Eugene..

Can you record from the mic without viavoice or whatever you are using?
Test this first, record a wav or whatever... What's your SoundBoard? I
presume your mic is a typical el-cheapo that comes with most pc's...

I am using Linux Mandrake 7.2 which has got voice recognition software
installed as part of the system. My problem is that the system does not
recognise my microphone. It detects the microphone as "unidentified device".
The sound system works perfectly otherwise, but I cannot record. Has anybody
come across this problem?
