Were you dialing off of a fixed line or using a mobile ?
and do eircom restrict it to Numbers starting with +353

If your were using a mobile, certain providers restrict the the Caller ID
and others don't.

If it worked once before then it should work again :)

There is no such username/password on the eircom system. This is just
a dummy value that's used on the CDs for the free service. When you
dial the free numbers, you can use any username/password you like -
it's ignored. You are allowed in if your caller-id can be determined.
Since you were dialling internationally, your caller-id was not
available, and so your authentication failed.

You need a subscription account with a real username and password if 
you want to use eircom net outside of Ireland.
