Why not Word Perfect 8 and Gnumeric?  I have the former here:

I vaguely recall that a running copy consumed about 6-8 MB of RAM, when
I last ran it.  Quite decent little proprietary program.

Gnumeric (spreadsheet) is reasonably RAM-thrify, too, and is open source.
