[ILUG] sendmail problem ..

Hi,

I'm running sendmail 8.9.3 and 2.2.16 (Suse 6.3), and am experiencing
problems. I was on about this before, and it's happening again, and I'm
trying to track down the problem.

When I send mail, it comes back with "host not found" error. for
example:-

# sendmail -v user at cmg.nl
test
.
user at cmg.nl... Host unknown (Name server: fallback.nl.uu.net.: host not
found)
/root/dead.letter... Saved message in /root/dead.letter
Postmaster... aliased to root
root... Connecting to local...
root... Sent
# 

yet, if I do

# telnet fallback.nl.uu.net 25
Trying 193.79.237.174...
Connected to fallback.nl.uu.net.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 degen.nl.uu.net ZMailer Server 2.99.52-pre3 #1 ESMTP+IDENT ready at
Tue, 12 Jun 2001 11:48:05 +0200


Now, this only happens from time to time ... this server does get
loaded, but not to the extent that mail "should" stop. Is there a
timeout setting that would make sendmail think that the receiving SMTP
server isn't there??
