for me it's a matter of the time i have available. if i switch an os
then i need the time to deal with all the changes that requires. right now i have the following personal projects:

home network
fax server
vocp
    - ability to cause my server to dial in when requested and tell me
      it's ip address.
    - have it email me phone messages after encoding them (that was the
initial reason for looking at o-v.
linux based home audio system - speakers to every room + a controller
    of some sort.

and then there's a long list of diy projects around the house and outside
the house.

and then there's work.

hm. i'm missing something. oh, yeah, sleep.
