yeah, realised afterwards that statement was a bit unclear.

what i should have said was:

/IRIX/ OpenGL is light years ahead of linux. (but it would be). it
just works effortlessly, always - as a user you wouldn't even know
there was something special called OpenGL involved. same can not be
said of linux.

as for the texture thing, not a contradiction: thats the hardware
thats lacking, but indy was never ever meant to be a hardcore OpenGL
machine anyway. Texture still works, just very slowly - as would
OpenGL on linux in similar circumstances. but for shaded OpenGL the
indy does fine (eg if you want to use performer)

finally: if anyone tried to reply privately to paul at jakma.org - i
won't have received it and won't do for a while as i have the MX
