bzzzzt! nice try.

    a) that's incorrect since we'll[0] be using the euro[1] by then.
    b) quickly rounding that up to eur100, we'll be lucky to get it at
that price since by the time dsl comes[2][3] that will likely be
the price of a cup of coffee[4].
    c) if i was offered the service (with a fixed ip) at £175/month
       i'd seriously consider taking it.

don't mind me, i'm just bitter. about the only way i can get any benefit
from dsl is to go down to paddy power and place a bet that i won't see
it in 10 years - and i'm just a mile from shrule, about 5 from tuam and
20 from galway city. even n. ireland has dsl - and they're a smaller
market then us.

ps if anyone with any decision making abilities in eircom or isp's is
reading this, please don't think that i'm implying that you're slow
to provide dsl. if you were slow then i'd actually believe that
    you were making some progress.

[0] i'm using "we" in the generic sense. perhaps
     (great-)*grandchildren would be more appropriate?
[1] assuming a new currency doesn't come along after the euro.
[2] obviously there will be approximately 80 faster methods to access
     the net by then.
[3] and we're assuming that ireland hasn't been reclaimed by the sea,
     humans still inhabit ireland.[5]
[4] assuming the intervening ice age doesn't kill off all coffee plants.
[5] or the planet earth for that matter.
