i agree with kenn here.  the security model you're attempting to implement
is known as "security by obscurity," and it is not an effective model.
boxes in a production environment require admins with two qualities:
expertise (which doesn't mean they know everything, but that they know
places to ask/learn) and a commitment to keeping those systems stable
and secure on a daily basis.

neither of these qualities are optional.
