[ILUG] RH dialler problem

Hi all,

This is something I've been meaning to ask actually - I think I've seen
this discussion before but I can't remember now. In any case, my phone
bills are telling me that I finally need to do something about it.

I use RedHat's ppp dialler for Eircomnet (and previously for TInet), and
I have had this issue since I started. Like clockwork, I connect every
second attempt. The first attempt (according to /var/log/messages), I
connect, have a nice chat with the modem, authenticate fine, and
promptly drop the line.

Anne uses wvDial (I think - whatever the kde default dialler is) on
KDE2, and it connects first time, every time. Anyone else seen this
problem, and come across an easy way to solve this annoying problem?
