It is possible that the site uses http up until the point where 
confidential details are supposed to be entered at which point they
redirect you to their https server.  This is quite common.

Technically, its also possible that security could be provided by using 
an applet and in this situation there may not be padlock symbol
but this seems somewhat pointless unless https does not provide adequate 
security.  The last time I used hushmail (quite a while ago) they were 
using an applet.
