I also like to know the cost of invoking a remote method (marshalling
overhead etc.). I don't think this stuff can every be *too* easy, but
I know where you're coming from. As a developer you want to take
advantage of powerful high-level APIs, but you don't want to be
punished (performance, reliability) for doing so. I think the trick
is to know when to use them, to know when not to, and to know the
alternatives. Of course that requires some knowledge of what's
going on under the hood!
