Files you will need to edit are as follows
/etc/sysconfig/network
/etc/sysconfig/static-routes
a variety of files (depending on your network) in:
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
Once changes are made you will need to run this
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
That will implement changes made by restarting networking.
Note that you can issue start and stop in that way also:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network start
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop
Hope that helps - i'm of the opinion that linuxconf is a very
weak utility. Anytime i've ever used it, i have had problems
as a result.... you cant really go wrong by learning command line
methods.
regards,
G.

Subject: [ILUG] Any solution to NIC settings problem?
Hi,
Has anybody found any solution to the followign problem in RHL 7.2?
***
When I make any changes in the network settings using Linuxconf, the
settings do not come into being until i reboot the system! Or atleast please
tell me which files to modify so that I can implement that changes by just
restarting the network service.
***
