[ILUG] What does 'Changing network settings' mean in simplest
of all cases?

As mentionned last week, nobody knew really why restarting the network
service didn't change the ifconfig setup. I got the same behavior by
editing the files manually and trying first to restart network and also
put down and up ifconfig eth0, with no result.
You might want to accept that sometimes, there are just no answers yet
for a given problem (not to mention that redhat 7.2 is pretty and that
bugs will be found ...).

All I asked was 'How can I change network settings like IP/ netmask under RHL 7.2, without rebooting the system after making the changes. This is because Linuxconf does not work properly. And so does /etc/init.d/network restart. New IP/netmask is applied only when I reboot the system'.
