Failure to understand the limitations of a technology is hardly an argument 
against deploying it.   You shouldn't deploy any technology unless you 
understand what you're supposed to be doing.

It seems to me you're arguing against a multilayered networking model.

In any case, the delays inherent in trying up to 10 TCP connections before 
one succeeds may be unacceptable under certain conditions - in this case, 
you still need Load Balancing to speed things up.
