I had a cron job that built the /var/qmail/aliases file from Oracle every
ten minutes, then hacked the qmail-getpw program to check oracle instead
of the /etc/password file (just in case someone was added to the DB in the
meantime). Of course, both programs had been hacked into knowing that
there were two oracle databases off the one name, and that it should try
the lower IP (master) first.
The database wasn't for mails...just addresses/passwords etc. Obviously,
I'd hacked IMAP to oracle authenticate too.
