The linux network admins guide has a chapters on both, and
is available in both online & printed versions (O'Reilly).
It has little or no reference to other vendors implementations
On Pungenday, the 26th day of The Aftermath, Cormac McClean argued:
> >would anyone be able to point me in the right direction for
> >documentation on implementing NFS and NIS. ??
> >I'm hoping to use mostly Linux but I want to be aware of any
> >inconsistencies in various vendors implementations.
> There is the O'Reilly book, Managing NFS and NIS, by Hal Stern
> (Published 1992) which provides comprehensive information
> for NFS/NIS on general UNIX systems.

You can fool some of the people all of the time,
and you can fool all of the people some of the time,
but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.
