[ILUG] Where to get RAM?

Hi all,
I'm a relative Linux newbie (have done a few installs
and video configuration - can be a bitch...) but have
only ever really played games and accessed the
internet.
I'm now ready to try and do some programming and
"real" work with Linux...
Unfortunately, the machine on which I have it running
is an old P200 MMX with 32 MB of RAM so it runs
pretty slow with constant disk thrashing (and yes, I
can feel you wincing from here).
So, what I want to know is, where is the best place
to get RAM (in Dublin or environs) and are there any
issues that I should be aware of when purchasing it?
There seem to be many different types out there - are
there some types that I can't/shouldn't buy? Is there
a maximum that my machine can take (I was thinking
of going for 256M, but I don't know if the machine
will take it - or is that an issue? Is there any
point in putting the RAM in if my processor is
unable to make use of it? Good vendors who will take
a bit of time to explain/assist?
The slots in my machine are the 72 pin ones.
Any comments, issues, advice, URLs or anything else
of potential use appreciated.
TIA.
Paul...
