[ILUG] Connecting to Net

Ok, so here's the thing:
I have a Linux network at work (school). I installed it over the summer and
everything works just fine. I didn't set up the net connection at the time,
'cos I didn't have to. Now I do!
I have two choices - an ISDN modem or a Router.
The server has an ISDN TA installed but I haven't configured it yet, so the
router is the option.
The router has it's own IP address (192.168.10.50) and I can telnet to it
from a test pc - I figured that I would configure one pc first.
I configured the test pc's net connection to use the local lan (it's a
windows pc) and I set the gateway to the IP address of the router.
Problem is, when I try to connect to the net, I get diddly squat.
I've obviously forgotten something here. It worked fine when I used a Novell
network last year - I just connected in the router and away we went.
Any help with this problem would be appreciated 'cos I have a bunch of
"little old ladies" (apologies to any little old ladies who are ILUG
members!)in the local retirement group breathing down my neck. They come in
once a week to use the pc's after school and they want to use the internet.
Many thanks,
Mike.
