It is V.Expensive. About £25,000 for a manufacturer to tool up and about
$20 a unit after that. Plastic cheaper, £7,000 to tool up and £5 a unit.
Of course you still have to get the case designed which is more expense.

As I said it's really the only thing holding me back. I've got a nice
Transmeta board in here that has my eyes on it constantly :-D
Small cases are pretty easy to find. I want a case about the size of a
VCR/CD player etc.
The main dilema is to go solid state or not. OS on a 32 mb compact flash
or disk on chip. If I got a BX chipset I could go LinuxBIOS. Nice quick
boot times. But no moving noisey parts. If I stick a hard drive in there
I could add DVR/Ripping capabilities (theoretically). But hard drives
add heat and noise.
The main reason I started thinking about this was so that I could mp3
all my old cassettes and dump them onto CD's. Then get rid of the tapes.
