/usr/bin on a typical redhat box these days is simply insane.

[root at dunlop scripts]# ls -l /usr/bin/ | wc -l
   1744

why not? it's a file... who cares if it's long.

i'd like to see seperate dirs for well-defined and common collections 
of programmes.

eg gnome.

that really really ought to be under it's own dir.
