This is incorrect. As I mentioned earlier the kernel's HFS module allows you
to mount Macintosh HFS CDs and AFAIR the standalone HFS tools do too.

What appletalk tools package are you talking about ? If you're referring to
netatalk that allows a Linux box to act as a file server for Mac. clients -
it doesn't make an Appleshare client out of a Linux box.
