subscribe to debian-powerpc :)

basically, with the new powerbooks:
X is screwy (the radeon fb + X drivers aren't quite finished. 4.2.0 should
do it)
the winmodem is USB. It'll never work.
Sound is very similar to the iBook 2, which works.
Firewire I don't know about.
IrDA may work. There are strange problems.
Sleep is screwy at the moment.

It's a nice machine, but if you want a linux box, what about the iBook2?
It's about 800 quid cheaper in IE, and mine (the 500Mhz) is aboout 60-70%
as fast as the G4. The 600Mhz one would be even better, and it comes
with a big enough hard drive (it's not fun changing it, took me 3 hours last
night... argh).

As to why not OS-X... well, I just moved back to linux, and it's like
someone removed all the treacle from my machine. no waiting for stuff to
run, no trying to get the right order of programs so I'm not sitting there
with bouncing icons. No finder collapsing at inopportune times.

Oh, and the iPod runs with linux :)
