If it is dodgy RAM as Dave suggested, then the problem could be seen
intermittantly.  One thing for certain, dodgy RAM doesn't just go away. 
If the problem returns, note down what exactly gives the error and see
does it give the error again at any stage.  Make sure you back up any
important work, etc.  Just in case everything goes pear shaped.
