I dont know if this is exactly what you're looking for but I was able to
connect
a FreeBSD box to an Alcatel Speed Touch pro DSL modem (I'm currently on the
Eircom trial)
using a Genius 10/100 NIC. This box functions as a router for the other
machines in the
house using PPPoE.

anyone ever hook up a linux based router to worldcom/eircom supplied
leased line? what wan card should i use - i.e. which cards are supported
by linux and worldcom/eircom?

the costs of this are a bit rough though. i'm wondering about the
article i read about "roll your own" adsl. there are a few, so here's
one: http://www.odessaoffice.com/sdsl.htm. would this work over here?
what are the distance limitations?
