My Install Backup script mentioned below does 4 of the 5 things you
mention below. (well, it'll backup a windows share through a Linux
box!). It doesn't have a fancy GUI though, but you could use one of the
listed frontends to tar for that.
It uses a version of Tob that has trouble with space though so I have
to get around to updating it. Hmm.. I wanted to learn Python and now I
have a reason!
