Another date is Sept. 6-17, 1978 - negotiations which resulted in the
Camp David accord. That said, we really have no idea who did this yet -
so blaming palestinians because they're celebrating, and they're
currently the ones that are the most pissed off with the US (rightly, I
might add) doesn't mean that they're the ones who have done this. Pretty
much all information available right now is rumour with a grain of
truth, so personally I'm going to wait a while to see what comes out.

The taliban have released a statement to the effect of (paraphrasal)
"The taliban wishes to express their sympathy for the american children
hurt by the events of today. We feel your pain, and hope the courts find
justice" - not a condemnation, but it doesn't exactly deny anything
either.
