[ILUG] MP3 encoding solution

I used to use DDJ (Digital DDJ) and Grip for MP3 playing and managing the
encoding process respectively. They're from the same author and work well
together, storing all the track information in a MySQL database.
However, I've lately taken to using freeamp - it's simply a much nicer and
more stable UI. So, now I'm looking for a suitable replacement for grip
which can be configured to use whatever ripper and encoder I want and
produces playlists or tracks which can be easily imported into freeamp - if
it has an option to automatically put newly ripped and encoded tracks
automatically into My Music->Uncategorized Tracks, so much the better
It'd be nice if it also plays well with freedb.org. I sometimes settle down
for a ripping session when I'll go in and take another half dozen CDs off
the shelf and rip them, so it'd be nice if an encoding solution could be
told to go to freedb and get track listings and cache them locally - then I
could log on once, get the listings for the current batch of CDs, and log
off for the sake of my phone bill's health. Mind you, I've never seen that,
and grip certainly didn't have it, so I'm just being hopeful, and while I'm
asking . . . . :-)
Any suggestions ?
Niall
