I use Norton Ghost a lot, its quick and easy to use, has tons of funky
features, using multicast for imaging many workstations is very
fast, its easy & quick to set up fairly complex options.

I'm all in favour of free stuff but Ghost is something i'd pay
for if you're gonna be doing large volume of imaging accross a
network. Ghost Server and Ghost Console have a lot going for them.

It sounds like you're talking about just 1 machine, so like everybody
else is suggesting dd - its is as good a tool as any and i'd go along
with that.

Subject: [ILUG] hard disk imaging

Hi all,

I'd like to make a copy (image) of a hard disk (10GB) running RH Linux
and transfer it to a new hard drive. What's the best way of doing this?
I've heard of Norton Ghost and Drive Image to create an image of the
original disk, but these have to be bought.

Thanks,

	Oliver.
