They do. They're just not Certified(tm) by AMD to run in such a dual config,
just as Morgan Durons aren't, but do.
This is a standard procedure with hardware manufacturers : the Asus BP6 dual
Celeron board officially sported it's additional socket for 'testing'
purposes, and was not certified for dual usage at all. This is why I've had
twin Celeron 300A's oc'ed to 550 running happily for the best part of two
years now ;-)
That said, there is actually a reason to use the later Athlon models, as
they have several tweaks with regard to prefetching, caching, etc. which
make them slightly better for general and multi-CPU configurations.
Still, if you can get a bargain on cheaper or faster Athlons, you will be
able to run them on the Tyan boards no problems.
