[ILUG] W2K and RH7.1 dual on an Inspiron 8100: how to partition?

Assuming you have a NIC for the machine (and anetwork to go along with
it!) you should be able to boot off a linux BBC, connect to your network,
mount a network directory / drive and tar up the w2k partition.  that
should create a tar file about the size of the total disk useage on the
laptop.  Now, repartition (destructively!), reinstall w2k, boot from the
linux BBC again and untar the previously tarred files.  That should
restore the original w2k setup in the smaller partition which is pretty
much what you want.  Of course, you have to reinstall w2k here (maybe you
don't, you might get away with just restoring the tar and doing a "sys c:"
from somewhere) but your tar contains all of the preinstalled software and
settings.
