[ILUG] Reason LinuxWorld was called off

LinuxWorld Ireland 2001 was called off due to the effects of the events of
September 11th on the economy.

The sponsors that we had had lined up for LinuxWorld last year were hit
quite hard by the "sudden" recession that hit the US and other markets.

It costs over Eur 30k for a one-day conference to be staged, and it was felt
that there was little or no way that the monies could be covered. Nor in
fact, could the exhibitor level be anywhere near as varied / useful as we
would want.

In light of that, we postponed, in hope of running one in the spring as part
of the ICT Expo ... this fell through as sponsors were not forthcoming
(despite valiant efforts on the part of various committee members). We do
however have a stand at the ICT Expo and a seminar slot ...

We're also hoping to have a number of rolling demos throughout the day to
emphasise the power and ease-of-use of linux in a real-world environment.
