Well it works again...????
# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
-> sees the drive and the other devices as it always did even when it didn't!
So I ran
# cdrecord -scanbus
-> which reported the drive cool too.
So I ran
# mt status
lo and behold, it decided to co-operate. Tried me wee script and works. I am aghast. What the fsck? Ideas anyone?
> Anyone used one of these babies? Its a HP Colorado 20GB IDE internal [tanberg]
> Anyway, I was using it, backed up and restored with a wee script I stole/wrote. My son *may* have blown it up but I may simply be forgetting something vital. [He stuck a screw driver inside and the PSU blew up] I say again, don't have baby boys -> they suck.
> Anyway, I think the drive is still OK as all the other components are. But I need this drive to resore from another drive off site.
> [In lilo.conf I appended ide-scsi to hdc & hdd, and then modprobed ide-scsi from #]
> If I cat /proc/scsi/scsi I can see the tanberg drive along with my other scsi devices, but now when I try to access /dev/tape, it reports no device.
> So I tried access various devices from /dev/st0 to /dev/qft0 all to no avail.
> Suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong.
