[ILUG] GCC Compilation Problem

Hello All!

I'm having a problem with compiling a few programs on my Mandrake 8.1 system. 
Whenever I run make I get the error "make: cc: Command not found", the source 
was not supplied with a configure script and this seems to be the problem I 
am having with all sources that don't have a configure script. I am using GCC 
3.0.1 with all the extras installed (inc all the libraries AFAIK) but I had 
the same problem with GCC 2.9.6 which was supplied with the distro.

Can anyone help me out here, because my brain is starting to hurt.
