I think there may be a point here but to be quite honest as the mail list is open you could follow the discussion using the mail archieves 
published on the site. Then post your questions and I am sure they would be answered. 

Perhaps the hardcore yes could use the irc.linux.ie (I know this is the first I have heard of it and will use it too) but then you have to be 
careful that flames and stuff just don't get outa control, plus as well I presume the ops are cool. 

But this should not mean that we neglect the list either. Remembering the ICT Expo a big selling point of Linux was the availability of the 
list and its friendleness.
