[ILUG] [OT] Eircom ADSL

Generic names should only be allocated to non-profit organisations
or portal sites that link to a variety of equally competing companies
(including free alternatives if applicable).

However - very difficult to manage that and ensure it is done fairly.

The problem in the past was there were no generic names allocated
at all (apart from the ones that utilised the brown envelope technique).
It would be stupid to leave domains blank rather than allow them
be allocated to something.

but, if you don't know who provides DSL, you might go to adsl.ie, in which
case it would seem that only eircom does it.

bit like going to mobilephone.ie doesn't take you to Vodafone?
(where entertainment.ie got the domain from I've no idea).
