morning people,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my home network. I bought a Realtek 8139
card to replace a dodgy NE 2000 PCI clone. I can't ping to/from the new
card. I downloaded the latest rtl8139 drivers from the scyld site and
managed to get them installed happily. I can see activity lights on the
hub for both ends of the ping. I've googled the night away and still no
closer to a solution... any help appreciated.
here's what ifconfig says:
eth0 == Realtek 8029 using ne2k-pci
eth1 == realtek 8139 using rtl8139
I've masked parts of my external IP 'cos it's not important.
[root at sockmonster johnmc]# /sbin/ifconfig

pinging 10.8.60.100 gives the following in /var/log/messages:
Feb 19 23:42:15 sockmonster kernel: IN=eth1 OUT=

pinging from 10.8.60.100 causes:
Feb 19 23:42:19 sockmonster kernel: IN=eth1 OUT=

again, any help appreciated
