kMail uses standard (Gawd help us !) mail folders - I keep meaning to
migrate to kMail, just haven't quite bitten the bullet, but when I try it
out it reads all my Mutt folders fine. One tiny issue I noticed which I've
mentioned here before is I have a mail folder with one message in it - I've
a little bit of text, then a blank line, a line of ---, a blank line and
another email message pasted in, complete with headers, starting with
