The aerial's usually the first thing to die on any phones I've owned -
which is why my current one and the last one I bought(I had a company
phone since but I'm trying *very* hard to forget it) came without one...
Nokia 3210 and 3390(yay! GSM in the US!).

My own feelings would be to wait for the Handspring Treo. Granted it
doesn't run Linux but PalmOS is damn good for handhelds, and despite the
problems mentioned on the list earlier, plays quite well with Linux.

don't forget the extra bits and pieces like a keyboard and synch cables ;)
I weighed the various bits of geekiness I carry around in my pockets and
on my belt the other day and it turned out to be 3.6 lb - almost 2kg!
as far as Linux PDAs go, I've heard good things about the Agenda VR3 and
Sharp Zaurus.. I'm not sure if you'll find a GSM phone/Linux pda combo...
