Check the /dev directory, then try 
ifconfig (find out what network bits are there
# ifup ppp0 (options as you need)
which should/might run a dialling script. 

If you're not out of trouble, read the PPP-HOWTO> Skip the most of it 
(Preamble. contents, what's in here, what's not in here, what's out there, 
biography of every linux author, biography of every linux user, etc) Go to 
Section 10 and try from there. Do it. it works.
