Hurray - add me to the list - I've just seen a Euro symbol on screen for the
first time and I did nothing to make it happen - it just worked (SuSE 7.3
with KDE 2.2.1) - default fonts.

Ah, but what if you have no AltGr key ? I use an OLD (at least 10 y.o.)
Northgate OMNI KEY/102 keyboard in the Pournelle configuration (function
keys on the left, control key where God intended it to be) and U.S. layout.
I have one Alt key but I have a second Ctrl key on the bottom right of the
keyboard - unfortunately this had to sacrifice its switch some time ago to
replace some key whose switch had died. What should I do to get e.g.
Shift-Alt-e and Shift-Alt-c to give me Euro and cent symbols ?
