Nostalgia as much as fondness.   I would point out I was only ever a user 
in the Maths Department, not an admin.   Also, I did like its mail 
seperators - so much cleaner than mbox.   Though I'm still unclear as to 
whether it was elm or mmdf that consistently fscked up the seperators in 
the files.

I never realised we had so much pain in common :)

What was really bad was the times this big, fsck off mail file would simply 
hang the POP session, so you had to rename it back, making sure not to nuke 
any new mails in the spool file, only to have the customer repeat the 
experience before you had a chance to go "sudo vi spoolfile".     Maildir 
was so much nicer, you could use good old fashioned rm to nuke the ruddy 
mail.
