Hi Guys,
I am haveing a hell of a time at the moment. I am moving a hosting company
from one location to another and all new ip addresses etc.
Okay because I did not have the time (This was a 12 midnight job) I could
not inform all the parties on the name server that they needed to contact
the iedr or netsol and change their nameserver address. We done the ones
that we host for but there were about 200 we could not.
So in the only place I set up a DNS server and thats redirecting 80% to the
new network. The other 20% welll this is the fun bit.
Their records are kept on the temp DNS this then say www.company.com is
located on itself so the requesting client sends a http request to the
apache server on the same box.
The apache server takes in the http request and then using mod_proxy it
fetchs the site from the new network and the web servers there and passses
it back to the client. It rewrites the url with mod_rewrite. Sound
Now the problem I am having is that some of the sites are going to god knows
where. Can anyone
A: Comment on the above
B: Reccomment a http testing tool that will allow me see what request are
being sent and where and what is happing from apache on the old network to
the one on the new one.
Probally wget which answers some of my question but has anyone got any
comments
Thanks in advance
Aj
