[ILUG] cfdisk/lilo and WinXP/NTFS compatible?

Bought the father Mandrake 8.1 as he would only use something if it was bought (probably just doesn't want to set a "bad example") anyhow, the diskdrake does not seem able to resize the XP ntfs partition the father has and checking it out I was fairly sure that was because the diskdrake and fips it would seem could not write to a ntfs file system and thus could not resize it. Plus running 2.4.16 my own 2k and xp partitions only seem to have read only support so, I am assuming that is because the kernel does not support r/w rather than my not having used mount options x &/or y but I could be wrong.
