[ILUG] login

One of our servers running RH 5.2 (yes it's ancient) was cracked into. I'm 
not able to log into it, just waits a few seconds and refreshes login 
prompt without returning an error. I suspect that login has been messed 
with in some way. Is there a way to take it from installation CD or another 
source? I'm trying to back up the server and reinstall but doesn't have a 
backup drive directly connected and can only get into machine in single 
user. I'm trying to use plip but can't set it up in single user mode of 
course.
