well, i lied.  for the past three to four days my connections would drop
every now and then even though they were in use.  i was snarfing some
stuff via lftp (excellent ftp client - it just waited for the connection
to come back and then restarted where it left off) so there were always
bits flying about.

and now it's in the "i can't auth you state."

grumble...
