[ILUG] Extracting Kernel Config Info

I could use a way to get that info, I'm running a dell inspiron with
fussy sound chip config, any time that I recompile the kernel I seem to
lose sound support, it would be nice to see what way red hat made the kernel

lsmod would tell me what modules there were but how would I find out what
was compiled straight into the distro kernel ?

Why not go for the standards? Include all the security bits and bobs,
compiled on another machine, copy it across and bobs your auntie? You wan't
a stripped optimised kernel don't you? Smoothie's only compiled for 386.
Mind you, its probably running on a 386. I don't think they have added any
kernel bits themselves.

I've never tried this as I no longer use smoothie. I believe the src is
available on their site, somewhere.

Smell ya later,

---------------------
Does anyone know if there's a way to 'extract' the kernel config used for a
running (or compiled) kernel ?

I've an older kernel here that I want to replicate with one or two mods,
only I'm not entirely sure what was compiled in to begin with ... (came with
smoothwall, if nobody else noticed my original question yesterday)

Essentially I need to build in basic SCSI disk support to the supplied
smoothwall kernel (2.2.19) so I can install onto a SCSI hard disk ...

Any suggestions ?
