Hi,
I'm starting a mini-Linux cluster (8 nodes) to familiarise myself with the
technology, prior to a full-scale cluster. I'm using the MSc Linux
distro (August 2001 release), and I'm having problems setting up the
NICs.
When I try to configure eth0 (either manually or using Webmin), I get
the error messages:
Bringing up eth0 as 193.1.xx.xx ... SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device
and so on.
The necessary kernel module ne.o is not loaded (checked this with
lsmod) and when I try to load it with insmod, I get the following errors:
/lib/modules/2.2.17-9.msc-up/net/ne.o: unresolved symbol ei-open
and 4 other errors.
I selected the ne NIC module during installation, and I'm at a loss at this
stage (after a number of hours working on this problem) as to how to
proceed.
Any suggestions, advice, etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Cormac.
