Thanks for all the answers, sorry I can't give you any details on the problem
- it would take several pages describing various proprietary and open source
OS combinations and a wierd network architecture / hardware platform
combinations. Thats basically the answer I wanted and expected, so the
problem is definitely something else. Thankfully I don't have to sort it
out...
