[ILUG] Active Desktop (ish)

Just thought I'd share an idea:

Yes, I know AD is almost universally hated in windows -

BUT - I'm more thinking of making the root window
a perfectly normal konqueror window (without borders),
and putting the browser control buttons and address bar
etc in kicker (the single most annoying problem with
windows active desktop it lacks such controls...)

Since konqueror is already a file browser,
and the current Desktop folder is just another directory that could
presumably be easily presented in konqueror I think it'd
be quite nice.and a logical generalisation, if the Desktop _was_ a konqueror
window, and it would also be nice for those people who
use their computer 80% for webbrowsing, 20% for webmail...

Part II is a little more radical:

Then, rather than normal "virtual desktops", for
application windows to be associated "dynamic virtual desktops"
with the directory the konqueror-root-window was in - so, for example,
you'd have /home/david/Projects/ReligiousCult/
open on a virtual desktop, then when you went to a different directory, say
/home/david/Projects/WorldDomination/ , it'd be
a different virtual desktop.

N.B. I'm not suggesting that the applications
on the desktops be limited to editing files in that particular directory,
but that "desktop personalities" be associated with being in particular
directories:

Perhaps the application run-state could be made persistent, like a dir-local
version of session-support - so you could have a "database admin" folder
that spawned editors opening onto relevant configuation files and man pages
when you desktop-browsed into it.
